Let's face it.... the past year and a half have been tough. COVID-19 changed all of our lives in ways we never anticipated. The recent 'return to normal' openings throughout the state have lifted spirits and bring a new sense of hope for the future. Opening the Barcelona pool is an important part of this process.
Getting the pool ready to open this year was no easy feat. The months of not knowing what COVID-19 restrictions might be in place for swimming pools, the lack of staffing at pool maintenance companies, the shortage of pool chemicals and many other issues were faced by the Master Board. Our Association President, along with Gregg Rithmiller at Heil, Heil, Smart & Golee, worked tirelessly for weeks putting together creative solutions to enable us to safely open our pool to residents once again. A lot of work goes on 'behind-the-scenes' to get a pool ready to open safely as well as clean the pool area and get all the furniture cleaned and put out for the season.
The pool locker rooms (located in Building 3) were completely remodeled, top to bottom, in 2020. Please take a few moments to visit the locker rooms. They are available for the entire Barcelona community during the pool season. You can click here to see photos of the beautiful new facilities.
We hope the 2021 Pool Season will bring our community together again. The pool is a place to cool off on hot summer days, catch up on some rays or read a book while relaxing poolside at a lounger and gather together to once again socialize with friends and maybe meet some new ones!
